RP Primers

The Basics

Movement Commands:

Movement - W,A,S,D Keys
Run - Hold Shift while moving
Walk - Hold Caps Lock while moving.  There is no preset key for toggle walking, although there is a fix for that.  I will explain below.
Toggle Crouch - Q
Toggle Crawl - Hit Spacebar after crouching
Lean on Wall/Sit on surface - Back up towards surface with S key. If the object is low enough you will sit.
Sit on Ledge/Fence - Move to the very edge where your character almost loses their balance and hit Q.
Toggle Sit Animations - Q (Several can be cycled through depending on the object.)
Swim Underwater - Spacebar while swimming
Parkour/Climbing - You can climb up on objects by holding the Spacebar.  Yes!  You can climb on rooftops in cities and MOST objects in reach.

To Set Toggle Walk:

This may take some practice.  Hit ESC to get to Settings then go to Input.  Scroll down the list of key bindings and find Walking.  It should be set to Caps Lock by default but that is a pain in the bumbum.  So what you do is set it to a key on your number pad--my favorite is the 7 key.  Apply and confirm to save it.  Now, when you try to walk press the button you set it to instead of Caps Lock and then Number Lock once while you are doing it and it should keep you in walking mode.  Hit the 7 and Number Lock again to run.  Voila!

Animations are very immersive in this game.  When you get to a ledge you teeter, after running you slow down and skid, you can even bump people!

Chat:

If you hover above the chat window you will see a Gear Symbol for options.  To make chat less cluttered you can shut off System messages in the chat as well as Channel Group (The Orange Chat).

The Enter key will bring up the chat input.

By default you type in General.

However you can switch between chats easily by typing:
/s = General
/r = respond to Whisper
/p = Party chat

There has also been a newly added Roleplay chat which can be accessed by turning it on in the chat options.  While in the text promp hit alt + 8 to type in it.  This channel is for OOC communication between the serverwide RP community, RP related topics, and coordination of events.  It also costs 1 energy to use each time so choose what you say wisely.

Unfortunately there is no emote command.  A typical format for posting RP is just typing your actions in General/Say and using quote marks around what is said.

For instance:

[Kyltania]:walks up to the man sitting at the bar.  She gives him a smile and asks, "I've been expecting you." Then she takes a seat beside him.

There used to be a 100 character limit on the chat but because the dev team is so awesome and the RPers asked there is now a 350 character limit.

If you end up running out of room you can always add something like a > to indicate you are continuing your post and typing more.

RP Hubs:

Though you will find RP almost anywhere in cities, towns, and villages you can find people gathering at:

Signboards:

When you are seated on an object you have the option to create a little signboard that floats above your head which can be a useful tool to let others know what you are doing in RP.  You simply click on the option when the circle menu appears above your head or click F1.  Then you can click on the scroll to type in whatever you want.  Be sure to make it brief.
